Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of an oil painting? Today, I want to share a special look into my creative process — from the first spark of inspiration to the final brushstroke.

As an artist, I believe that each painting holds a story, and part of that story is how it came to life in my studio.

1. From Inspiration to Idea

Every painting begins with an emotion, a thought, or a moment I want to express. Sometimes, it’s a powerful feeling that I can’t put into words — so I translate it onto the canvas.

I often get inspired by daily life, nature, and the complexity of human emotions. I spend time sketching ideas and thinking about how I want the viewer to feel when they see the finished piece.

2. Preparing the Canvas and First Layers

Once I know what I want to create, I start by preparing the canvas. This is where the painting’s journey really begins.

I lay down base colors and shapes, playing with light and composition. This first step helps me build the structure of the painting, even though most of these layers will later be hidden under the final details.

3. Building Layers and Texture

Oil painting is all about layers and patience. As I build up the painting, I add texture and depth, letting each layer dry naturally before moving to the next.

This process creates the rich, complex surfaces that make oil paintings so special. I also use brushes and palette knives to create different effects and textures.

4. Final Touches and Finishing Details

The last stage is where the painting truly comes to life. I focus on the details, light, and emotion, making sure every part of the painting feels alive and meaningful.

Before I consider a piece finished, I often step away for a few days and return with fresh eyes to make final adjustments.
