Original oil paintings by Eliran Bar-On

Where the paint comes to life
The studio is where the work begins. Here, in front of the canvas, every oil painting starts from a feeling searching for a form, and is built slowly through layers, light and time. Every piece shown here is original, painted by hand on canvas, and exists in a single copy.
The light in the studio shifts through the day, and the painting shifts with it. I work in oil on canvas because the material asks for patience. It is in no hurry, it lets me correct, deepen and return, and it builds a depth that is hard to reach any other way. In every corner there is a work in progress, and beside it canvases that have already found their form.

How an oil painting is built
A painting does not begin for me from an orderly thought but from a feeling. First comes the general direction, the first color and the movement, and only then the layers begin. Layer over layer, sometimes across weeks, until the gaze or the figure gains presence.
Oil lets me work with transparencies, with texture and with subtle transitions of light and shadow. The work is deliberately slow, because it is time that gives the piece the depth and honesty I am after.

Original and one of a kind
Every work that leaves the studio is an original. No prints, no editions, no reproduction. When you acquire an original oil painting you receive the canvas itself, with all its layers and human touch, a work that exists in the world in a single copy and carries its own story.

Collecting a piece
If a certain work speaks to you, you are welcome to reach out to me directly. I accompany every acquisition personally, answer questions about dimensions, technique and fit for your space, and make sure the piece reaches you safely. We can also talk about a commissioned work created especially for you.
Frequently asked questions
- Are the works original?
- Yes. Every painting shown in the studio is an original oil on canvas, painted by hand, existing in a single copy. There are no prints or reproductions.
- Can I commission a custom painting?
- Absolutely. Reach out with an idea, a size or a desired mood, and we will build a tailored work together. I am glad to go over the details before the work begins.
- How do I purchase a piece?
- Each artwork page shows its dimensions and price. From there you send an inquiry, I confirm availability and close the purchase with you personally, to avoid a double sale of a single piece.
- How long does an oil painting take?
- It varies from piece to piece. Oil requires drying between layers, so a painting may be built over weeks. For a commission we agree on a realistic timeline in advance.
